The Need for GI-SEWA
India holds more than 600 Geographical Indication (GI) tags, representing centuries of cultural knowledge, skilled craftsmanship, and region-specific identity. Despite this, GI artisans continue to operate within fragmented systems lacking structured protection, awareness, and institutional backing.
GI-SEWA was established to address these systemic gaps through a legally structured, welfare-oriented, and market-integrated ecosystem that safeguards GI authenticity while restoring economic dignity and long-term sustainability for artisan communities.
